We are happy to announce that the Syrian scholar shaykh Mouaz al-Khatib will be visiting us again on Saturday the 26th of March.

The shaykh will give a one day course aimed at increasing our understanding of main Islamic teachings. Getting to know ourselves better in relation to our religion and our fellow believers will be the main objective of this inspirational course.

The course will be in the English language.

Some of the subjects that will be discussed:

-          The hidden dimension of understanding Islam

-          Unbelievable effects of Greek culture on Islam and Christianity

-          Is there a need for worship?

-          Where did we miss our hearts?

-          Brotherhood ethics: is it a choice or an obligation?

-          Who are we? To what are we related? The true meaning of monotheism.

-          Who knows better about Islam, men or women?

-          What we should do to have an Islamic life. How to use the bank of time.

-          Dhikr, nasheed, and Q&A about Muslim life in the West

 

Shaykh Mouaz al-Khatib
Shaykh Mouaz al-Khatib al-Hasani (1960) is a scholar and preacher from Damascus, Syria. He is the former imam of the Umayyad mosque, the oldest mosque of Damascus. He studied, among others, under his father, who also was a prominent scholar in Damascus and was the imam in the Umayyad mosque for 40 years. Shaykh Mouaz is the president of the Islamic Civilization Society, which has as its main activity providing health care to the poor. He has visited Europe and the Netherlands many times and is well aware of specific circumstances of Muslims living as a religious minority in the West. His personal website is www.darbuna.net
